Info about heads needed.

Everyone always talks and recommends a head swap. But how much hp can you actually expect from new heads,or from porting your stock ones? Also how hard is it to put the heads in yourself? Also someone mentioned a headswap kit for an older mustang gt in another thread,i think it was a 98 model. And i was wondering if there was such a kit for my 2000 gt?

And does anyone know a shop in the Tampa or New Port Richie area that could do my heads?

For the 99+ Gts, the only route to go for heads are either getting them ported by a professional (Lake Fox, etc.) or buying a set of heads from SHM or whoever else. All of them will be your 99+ GT PI heads, btw.

So i can eather spend some money to get my stock heads ported,or i can spend alot of money buying stock heads that are already ported?I rather get my own ported then.

Anyone know a shop close to me that does that?

Just any shop that claims to be professional about it.

I would recommend Port Pros in Austin Texas, Lake Fox (or Fox lake) whatever; they have done stuff that MM&FF have written about. Houston Performance in Houston Texas does great work. I've seen alot of their cars on the street doing crazy hp. And finally, I believe SHM will do it too.

All of those places seem kinda far away.Problem is everyone always claims to be a professional,so i'd like to hear from people who have done it in my region. Also does anyone have before and after head porting HP numbers?
