more than a clutch slipping!!
Well, i knew something was wrong with the clutch, but i get underneath to find two missing bellhousing bolts!:( on the pass side, the longer bolts, the top ones were there, but loose.
My question is, since this allowed a gap there for oil water ect.. to get in, could that be why my clutch slips now? Also, can i get these bolts from the dealer? right now i found two old head bolts i had, and they seem to fit perfect, is this not a good idea? im thinking the polyurethane trans moount creates vibration, and/or the hard launching i do at the track might cause this, do i have to stop racing to keep everything tight? sheesh..... Why me:mad: |
i dont think that would cause it to slip, just for referance from day one of the tremec 3550 that i purchased i never put the inspection pan or what ever you want to call it that goes by the clutch fork and i dont plan on putting it on either. I have gone thru quite a bit of water and never seemed to have a problem with it....

The angle of the dangle, so to speak, could cause your slipping. I'd bolt it up good and tight with a little green threadlocker, and take it to a big, empty parking lot and dump the clutch hard a few times to break off any glaze, and then see how it responds. Might solve your problems. Might not.

Pkrwd, thanx alot, im going to put in a cheap motorsport in for the time being since im kinda broke (and resurface flywheel), but i did do what you said kinda, and it seems to grab from a stop, but in 4th or 5th gear cruising, i can free rev it on the highway? it's just inconsistent, it grabs sometimes, almost always from a stop through 1st and 2nd, but a quick shift to 4th results in slippage:confused: i think i destroyed it with slicks, last time at the track, i launched hard and smelled clutch on the topend.
Anymore opinions welcome, but i realize, bottom line is it will have to come apart....thanx alot, and i will thread lock them next time. |
