coolant temp sensor!!!!!!
 

ok my check engine light came on and I pulled the code for the car and it came up as coolant temp sen. fault so I replaced reset the light and now it is back on, same fault is stored for coolant temp sens. any suggestions on the next thing to look for and is there two of these sensors on my car? 1994 gt mustang

Did you try replacing the sensor? They can accumulate deposits. I know yours is a 94, but on a 91, there is one sensor for the coolant that sends to the computer (in coolant line), and one that sends to the dash needle(in lower intake manifold).

Yeas, you have two, as mentioned. Which one did you replace?

I replaced the one located close to the throttle body, The one on top of the motor where is the other one? So I can replace it as well. Thank you guys for the help

Again, I have a 91. They're both "on top" of the motor and about the same distance from the TB. The computer sensor is plumbed into the double metal tube coolant line which originates from the upper intake manifold and leads into the heater core hoses. It is connected with the standard GI Joe type round snap connector.

The dash sensor looks like a standard bolt, brass in color, that is threaded into the upper intake manifold, opposite the tubing, that has a small metal stud protruding from the head of the "bolt". A small diameter wire is pushed onto this stud via rubber protected female type slip on connector.

Even if you change the correct sensor, if the wiring going to it is cracked, corroded, or otherwise damaged, you'll probably get a code.
