Mod for the hi-milers

Since I bought my car at 62K until last night (about 162K), it would crank kind of slow. I thought it was normal. The other day it turned over really slow after driving it on the highway. I have a new 130 amp G3 and battery. I replaced the short, old worn positive wire that goes from the battery to that cluster of wiring on the firewall. Stock was 4 gauge. I replaced it with new 2 gauge. Just that one wire made a HUGE difference in cranking speed. I'm now going to replace the alternator and ground wires with 2 gauge. The moral of the story is to replace old wiring before replacing batteries and starters. This seems like it would increase the life of those components. At least the battery.
