Is a valve cover breather bad for the 4.6????
I was going to take out the long plastic tube that goes from the valve cover across the engine and into the cold air induction and plug the hole on the cold air induction and put a valve cover breather in the valve cover. Reason being out of nowhere the guy across the street who has lived there for 5 years and I've never talked to him came across the street when I was installing my spacer and havin a small problem and he was telling me how he helped designed the intake and other parts for the 99 cobra and how he was on the svt team and he was showing me pics of him on the track in the 2000 cobra R goin 140 in 4th gear wow. I asked him whats with the tube and he said I could just plug the hole and get a valve cover breather cause that tube gets in my way sometimes when I'm workin on the engine but I was reading in the winsor room that its bad cause its unmetered air, help...thanks

Damn it no responces...I'm gonna wait to get some before I put this one in my car.

I've had one on my car for quite some time with no issues. The shop I use told me it can actually help prevent issues because if you're pusing oil past the valve cover gaskets you won't be feeding into into the motor since it's no longer returning the air.

So it's ok to replace with a breather?

The breather I bought takes the place of the oil cap, do they make one to fit the the part the plastic tube goes into on the valve cover cause that piece doesnt wanna come out. I'm gonna plug the hole on the cold air induction and the hole where the plastic tube goes into and put the breather on the oil cap, thats right, right??????

DON'T PLUG UP THE HOLE ON THE VALVE COVER!!! This is what relieves your engine of all the blow-by vapors. You can go buy a universal fit one at AutoZone or Kragen for $8 or so. It has a rubber base and will slide over the plastic piece in the valve cover. The breather filter will not hurt anything, air flows through it only at cruising speed where vaccum is around 10" HG. Under load or at idle the PCV valve is closed. I've had the breather cap on mine for a while now, and no problems. The MAF senses air after the breather inlet. Just don't disconnect it from the passenger side of the engine where it goes into the intake manifold.

Well ok but that thing doesnt want to some out, havent tryed too hard but what size breather fits the valve cover, i think there was 8" and 10" and maybe 12", what about that ford racing breather oil cap its pretty sweet I'm gonna put that on and hope it doesnt hurt anything. I'm still gonna plug the hole on the air induction cause its after market and it had the gold hole where the long plastic tube goes from there to the valve cover.
