Question on Air Silencer

What is an air silencer on a 98 mustang GT?

If it exist on my car...where is it?

Lastly what will happen if I remove it?

its the little plastic snorkel that goes into the fender on the passenger side.

If you just take of the soft rubber part you will hear a little more intake noise and may more may not get more power.

Kind of a tricky thing with that,as some have dyno results that state that the removal of the air silencer gained some hp,and some say you actually lose alittle power because it lets all the hot engine air in.The purpose of removing it is because the tube is alittle small at one end,so the filter doesn't get enough air.So this is another option you have.Just cut the silencer up to the point where it still goes into the fender well but doesn't go in too far. That way you have cut the little inlet hole, and you keep the engine air out of the intake.I forgot where i read about that, but i know people do it.I personally removed it totally untill i get around to cutting it. :D

if you want to remove it, or want to see what it is and looks like, go here. piece of cake, that how-to is awesome and will walk you right through it. hope this helps.
