A clean motor that runs well sells for $350.00 around here. If its a 4 bolt main motor maybe 500. Alot of people look at what a remanufactured costs and gage what they'll pay for a used one. A 79 is not a great year for performance. So its looked at as a replacement, not an upgrade.

I got a 95 LT1 50k miles with computer/harness complete for $500.00. A 91 302EFI with harness sold for the same. I base my offers on these types of deals. Non computer motor less. Unless it has new carb/intake etc.

Hope this helps..

Post it on Ebay with a $250 reserve and see what it fetches. Be sure to have the other guy pay shipping. ;)

78 and 79 Chevy small blocks also had defective cams...mine was one of them (79 Z28). The cams had lobes that had not been fully hardened, you either lose performance or have full collapse of one of the lobes. Just a factoid...
