3.73 gears
 

hey you guys i just ordered 3.73 gears can someone please tell me how hard it is to install the gears and about how much it will cost to have them installed? and also will a ford dealership do the install?

It is not too hard it just takes time and patience. It rages in price depending where you live seen it from $250-$500 installed. Some dealerships do install them others don't. Just have to call and ask.

Mine were about $200 to get installed. That included the labour, fluids, shims, seals, etc. (did NOT include the gears).

I'd get it done professionally, because if you screw up you'll have bad gear whine!

I agree. Get it done correctly by a shop. The dealership will be really high priced so I would look elsewhere. It cost me $200 labor to put my 3.73s in my 96. The Fordmotorsport gears were $159 and then you've gotta get the shims, fluid and friction modifier, and pinion bearings. A new crush sleeve should come with the gears.
