Pro shifted Tremec?

Has anyone had their Tremec converted to pro shift? I was just wondering how they behave on the street after the conversion. Any input is appreciated!

My Tremmec came with a pro-50. It works great, can't miss third. Its a world ahead of stock. Setting it up was no problem either.

The term Pro-Shifted has nothing to do with the style of shifter. It pertains to the blocking rings and sliders. A pro shifted transmission will go in to gear effortlessly, but they make a terrible noise when upshifting and they are hard to downshift. For those two reasons they are usually reserved for drag race only cars.

I do not recommend driving one on the street. There is maintenance involved with a pro shifted box. I have had to take mine apart a few times and clean the burrs off of the teeth of both the sliders and blockers. If I drove it on the street, I would be doing that alot more.

I read the thread to quick I guess.

The worst thing I see would be going from 4th gear to 1st.

Never seen it done on a Tremmec. Only Top Loaders. Seems If I were going to spend the money for a stick car, I would go with the Top Loader, and a vertigate shifter.

FFR, believe it or not, our other car has a toploader with a V-Gate shifter in it!!! We run 2 cars in a DOT/Muffler/Iron head class. Although we have good luck with the toploader and it's damn near bullet proof, I wouldn't trade my TKO for 3 toploaders. Not that there's anything wrong with the Toploader, its just that I'm THAT happy slammin gears on the Tremec. That and the .68 OD is the key to driving the car to the track.

Andy, nailed it on the head buddy! Thanks! Exactly what I wanted to know. I found a place that with pro shift my TKO for $100/gear and I was considering having it done. I guess I'll just "stick" to the tried and true power shift!

Thanks for the help guys!!!
