Transmission Swap Q's
I'm going from my T-5 to a C-4 that's gonna be rebuilt with some strong parts, good convertor, etc. The question I have is, what flexplate can I use with it? I've got a C-4 flexplate from a 351 so that won't work, but what about an AOD flexplate?

Idon't think the AOD flywheel works. I do believe B&M make a 50 oz C4 flywheel and JW TRans make a SFI one

If your motor is later than 1980 it needs a 50oz flex plate. What transmission you have don't matter, AOD, C-4, C-5 etc. Also a 351 flex will work so long as it is 50oz and the right amount of teeth.
If your C-4 is a older variety it may need the smaller of the two flex plates Ford has. 157 tooth VS 164. BUT STILL NEEDS TO BE 50oz. To match your motor. CHECK YOUR STARTER HITS. Same is true in reverse. Bolting up a AOD to a say, 1968 302. You need a 28.2oz flex plate. Regardless of what tranny it is. Hope this helps. |
