6 to cyl wiring

well I went to go buy A engine and alternater wiring kit for my 6 to 8 cyl conversion and the guy at the store said there wasn't A difference in the wiring for A 6 or 8cyl. I asked to see the kit that they would sell me for an 8 cyl any ways and it looked like the one's I have for my six.

so my question is are these people dumb or is there really no difference in the wiring. and if there is A diiference is it something small like the gauge of the wire or something.

thanks

Wow, never thought of it.

I can ask my friend who just got done putting in a v8 in a old straight six car.

It might take me a couple of days, but I will find out.

fordkid68 09-24-2003 05:02 PM

the engine wiring kit was like 60 somthing. and the alternater wiring kit was 30 something.

reason why I was asking, cause u might want to go out and buy it anyway cause if your running the old stock wiring, it's always good to upgrade to new wires, so that u don't short out and cause a fire. But if u don't have the money, I will still try to get ahold of my friend for u.

well before the six went out I changed the wiring. so it's preaty new. maybe 6 months old. so if it is the same I wasn't going to bother buying the wires again.

Hey, I talked to my friend, he didn't have to change anything, but he did cause he installed a MSD system, but for u, everything should be the same.
