What does it take to beat a new Mach 1

How fast are the new Mach 1's? What does a 2001 Cobra need to beat one. I am about to put 3.73s in mine when I get them out of the Jeep. Otherwise it is bone stock.

An 01' Cobra and a mach 1 have about a 3-4 tenth gap in stock form.

The mach 1 has a solid axle and 3.55 gears from the factory and makes a few more HP.

As long as you have the IRS the mach 1 will have the straight line advantage,

I would suggest that you get a solid axle with at least 4.30 gears.

3.73's are not steep enough for the 99+ cobras.

I have beat a mach 1 when they first came out since then I lost twice.

They dont really have anymore top end but they make really good low end torque and it is hard to hang with them from a stop.

I think with just long tube headers and exhaust you could walk away from a mach 1. Throw in some gears and you could spank 03 cobras in a straight line as well.

The fastest two DOHC 4.6's where I live are a 99 cobra that runs low 11's on the juice and low 12's on motor.

And a Mach 1 that is turbo charged and ran an 11.7 @117mph with a 1.6 60ft.

On average the mach 1's are running mid 13's. Go to the track and see how you can do. Some cobras are faster than others mine was 3 tenths faster than any of the other 99-01's that were stock were I race.

Fix the wheel hop before you worry about anything else. Trust me.

ya I am doing the wheel hop soon.

I am doing 3.73's just because they are free. Christmas I am puting CAI and FR500 exhaust on it, and by summer hope to have Long tubes and off-road x-pipe, and steeda pullies.

The '03 Mach 1 runs very low 13's. Forget the 3.73, you'll need at least a 4.10 gearset.

I decided that when we get the 3.73s out to go ahead and try and sell them and by 4.10's

At least 4.10's and the widest DR

4.10's are a great street gear. not too much, but definitly enough.

Track Time on Mach 1

My buddy has a new one. He has a bassani catback and a chip. He ran 12.90@107.

I raced him in my dad's 92 LX with TFS Heads, Edelbrock Intake, F cam and longtubes with 3.55. Made 293 rwhp.

Dead even. He actually pulled me a little once when I started spinning, but I couldn't pull on him and he couldn't pull on me.

I was at Richmond Va tonight and I could have sworn I heard the track announcer say that an auto Mach ran 12.70's at 112 mph????, car looked reasonably stock to me (right down to stock wheels and tires), air temp was about in the 50's though
