have a BIG QUESTION about V8 Swap!
Hey guys. I am having a major dilema. i checked out a Chilton Auto. Transmission manual from the library and looked up the AOD tranny in there. If you don't know, I am doing a V8 swap w/ a '83 Convertible which was originally a V6. The car I am getting the tranny and engine out of is a LTD Crown Victoria. On the door label for the Crown Vic. it said it was produced in '84, so I assume that it is an '85 Crown Vic. Now here is my question. The Crown Vic. is carburated, so I assumed that it was a 5.0 carbed. I am attaching a picture to prove my point. When I looked in the book for the application of the AOD, it shows that there were two different engines available in the Crown Vic. that year. From what I read, it seems that the 5.0 that year was FI, and the other was a 5.8 carbed. http://home.talkcity.com/ThePits/physicusman1/aod.JPG http://home.talkcity.com/ThePits/physicusman1/aod1.JPG
What's the deal? Which one is right? If anybody has any answers for me, please let me know. Thanks. |

looks like the 302 is CFI and the 351 is a 2v carb ------------------ 84 convt,'95 302,AFR's, performer 3.55's, underdrives BBK shorties stock cam, 1.7's 13.85@102.5 and a '68 stang that WAS nasty ;-) |
Don't forget about the linkage problems you'll have with that swap. The Crown vic was column shift, where the Mustang is a floor shift. I know in the C-4 it requires different linkage, can't remember if the valve body is different.
