Need opinion for octane

look in my sig and take a look at what i run. i also plan on running the cam for about 5 to 8 degrees of advance. what octane gas should i run with this. or should i run regular with some octane booster. and opinions would help. thanx

run the lowest octane you can with out detination

running higher octane acctually can reduce hp.
unless timing is advanced to take advantage of it.

Ditto. Running more octane than your car needs does not help power.

thanx so far for the response but i already know that too much octane will cause problems and performance issues. i was asking for exact numbers from people who run the same or similar setup with an advanced cam on a stroker inparticular

BilLster 10-01-2003 01:19 PM

two identical engines will run with some degree of diffrence
thats why i said start with $5.00 of the lower or mid grade gas and see how it runs.

Elevation and other factors have alot to do with it.

at sea level i run 6 points higher octane with octane boost. for comparable performance up here in Calgary

why didnt you include compression ratio? quench? deck height? is the piston in or out of the hole? how much? gasket thickness? piston design? etc......

347 stroker
twisted wedge heads
8.5: 1 dished pistons
quench?
8.2" deck height
piston in or outta the hole?
.039" thick head gasket, 4.145" bore
5 - 8 degrees timing advance

why advance the cam that much???????

with that compression any cheap *** gas should work.. unless u have a power adder.. why so low a compression????????

my 347 stroker has 13:1 compression 11lb of boost and a 225 shot of nitrous and it only takes 116 octane for me to stay out of detnotation.
