It just effects your idle. What's your problem?

What kind of mods do you have and what kind of fuel pressure do you have. Sounds like not enough timing to me. When was your last tune up?

pedley 10-07-2003 09:07 PM

mods

i have a
ford motor sports F cam
ported stock intake
shaved and ported stock heads
underdrives
k and n

my fuel pressure i dont know yet but i will check tomarrow and let u know
last tune up was about 3 mounths
but that was just plugs and wires and oil no checking my timming or nothing like that

but i will chack my fuel presure tomarrow and post it for ya
thanks

When was the cam installed and was it degreed? Do you have a good timing light so we can get an accurate reading?

pedley 10-08-2003 09:01 AM

cam install

the cam was installed about 3 years ago along with everything else
sence then i have only driven it 15000 km
my timming light is good i checked it last night it was at 13%
but this is a stupid question when i set the the timming to lets just say 15 i have to move the distributor right??

USMC302 10-08-2003 10:01 AM

Yes, you must turn the dist slightly to adjust the timing with the spout connector out. You checked it with the spout connector out right?
When did you first notice the problem, where their any changes made at all with the car? Has it been doing this through more than one tank of gas? When is the last time the fuel filter was changed?

pedley 10-08-2003 06:07 PM

fuel pressure

ok my fuel presure is at 20 psi and it should be at about 42 psi right??
its done it throught more then one tank.
fuel filter changed about 2 weeks ago
now the fuel pump i have in there is 190 BUT its used now i have two good stock ones should i try them??

USMC302 10-09-2003 08:59 AM

try bumping your timing up to 15 degrees, this will increase your idle vacuum a little, then check the fuel pressure again, are you checking it with the vacuum line on or off?! With the vacuum line on you should read somewhere in the neighborhood of 35lbs. You should get an adjustable regualtor as well, these are always handy. Let me know what happens? Hey you never mentioned whether or not you checked your timing with the spout connector in or out..........

pedley 10-09-2003 03:44 PM

fuel

checked timming with the con. out
and i checked the presure with vac. on and off and it still was at 20 psi
i'll put the timming at about 15 and see what happens

i would just like to say thanks for all the help so far

canukracer 10-09-2003 04:39 PM

key on engine off psi fuel spec is 35-45 engine running 30-40 psi don't think 20psi cuts it, lucky it runs, when i do injector flushs i can go as low as 25psi some times before engine stalls if you pull off the vaccum line at the regulator do you see or smell fuel?maybe a bad regulator or the new fuel filter? you can buy real junk for filters.
