charger vs. power package

I want to begin saving for a big buy to make my car a lot faster. I dont know whether to buy a super charger, turbo charger, or i would get Trick flow intake manifold, cam and heads. My car is somewhat stock...you can see what i have in my sig. What do you guys think would be the best buy???so far ive heard the trick flow parts would be the best.

id get engine parts if i were you before you get a power adder. a nice set of heads, intake, cam, headers, MA, t-body, etc. trick flow makes a lotta nice performance parts. some other good head choices are afr and edelbrock. some other good manifolds are gt-40 and edelbrock. what are you looking for, for power levels?

i want my car to be around 350-400hp...right now im guessing im at about 250 if im lucky. The x-pipe seemed to add a lot. Look at my mods in my sig and see if you can tell what horse power a power adder or the intake/cam/heads combo would ultimately give me.

The h/c/i route is going to be a little bit more $$ than the supercharger. The turbocharger will be the most expensive. 300rwhp can be had with EITHER a h/c/i package or an entry level supercharger. It's all about what you want. Boost or N/A?

Whatever you don't do this time, you can always do next time :)

what do you think 300hp would run in the 1/4???Also...i could put together the h/c/i combo but would prolly have to get the super charger installed...how much would that cost?

stang_racer20 10-22-2003 01:03 AM

you could probably run low 13's w/ good traction w/ 300 hp

stang_crazy, what are you talking about? your basic centrifical supercharger will cost at LEAST 2000 dollars, where as a good h/c/i combo will cost maybe 1800 dollars, with about the same power gains

go all motor! It is one of the best things to brag about when you smoke another car... everyone has a super/turbo charger on there cars today, it would be different and you can pump out some real power with going all motor!

Yea you guys are proably right...im gonna go with the combo cause can get it piece by piece and maybe get a supercharger next year...or would that crack the block?

I agree, and not to change the subject, but it all depends on how the power is put to the ground, and how you abuse that t-5.
with aluminum heads, i would be in the 12.60's, and with highway gears......the simplicity of the sc'er would be why i would get one, the heads and cam is'nt something that can go on in one day? hope you wont need your car for a couple days, maybe a week:)

My 'basic' Paxton NOVI 1000 cost me $1698 .... delivered to my door. With a $23 F150 crank pulley, I see 8-9 psi. So 1698 + 23 = $1721 That doesn't look like $2000 to me

I'm not going to get into a pissing contest with you. It's up to the owner of the car what he/she wants to do. I was just giving my opinion.
