Advice on 306 to 347 trade
Okay, here's the deal. I just built a 306, forged pistons, stock crank and block. GT40P heads, weiand stealth intake, comp cams magnum 292H, did all of the work that wasn't machine work myself. Just finished putting it in the car. Then my uncle tells me he has a friend with a running 347 setup that he wants to trade for something more streetable. He wants my 306. I don't know many details yet about his setup, but a 347 sounds really tasty. Then again, I just spent a good portion of my time building this motor and putting it in the car. It's not running yet, just setting in there, but I feel kind of attached to it. What do you think I should do? Once I hear some details about the 347 setup, I'll post them here.

Until you get the details, I wouldn't do anything. Once you get more information like: 1) why he wants to get rid of the 347 (besides just getting a more streetable motor), 2) how many miles are on it, 3) you test drive it, 4) the parts used in the build-up, etc. then you can make a well informed decision.
From first impressions, I would be a little leary of a guy wanting to get rid of his 347. I don't know of many people that spend the bucks building up a nice 347 just to sell it for something 'more streetable'. Ususally, once you get a little more power you want more, not less. :D Just be careful and make sure you perform some solid due diligence. Good luck, E |
Sorry, I guess I failed to mention that he bought a car with a 347 in it. (He's a rather rich fellow i gather) Bought a car that was already pretty much done to drive and wants a more reliable streetable motor. But, yeah, once i find out what internals it has, mileage, etc. I'll post it and you guys can advise me. Thanks.
