Brand new, got new 65 Tang!!!
Hey ya'll. I'm new to this mustang thing. I just bought me a 1965 Mustang for 300 dollars. It has the orginal seats, engine, and rims. The only problem is the engine is in peices in the trunk and it's only a Straight 6.
Should I forget about that engine that's pretty rusty and slowly buy a new engine? Any sites/manuals I can buy to read in my spare time at work and home to catch up on this oppurtunity of a lifetime? Also, should I start on the body work before I even think about the engine? |
Welcome to MustangWorks.
I say put a V8 in it. As long as its not some rare car with a six. Lotsa webpages on swapping out the 6. |
Just my 2 Cents.....
Just a thought - if you are going to put the 6 back in it...keep the block and have a mechanic or machine shop look at it. It is cheaper to have it cleaned and bored than to start over. If you are going with a V-8 then you have many things to consider...suspension, trans, Etc...
My car was a 6 when I got it and I opted for a V-8..but it took much more work. As far as the body work...I would wiat till it is running before you worry about that. Mine is still wearing a coat of primer (for 6 years) and I am still getting the performance where I want it to be first. In my opinion - the body and paint should come last... Good Luck! |
