Pissing me off
My car doesnt want to idle when it is cold....backfires in the intake manifold when i push on the gas...and surges when i try to accelerate or when im cruising. It almost feels like its running out of gas because sometimes i can push the gas to the floor and nothing will happen. It mainly does it when the engine is cold but lately has been doing it when ever it wants. Here is a list of the things ive already replaced to try to fix it.
EGR valve IAC module Fuel filter fuel pressure regulator Air charge temperature sensor Timing is fine New spark plugs, wires, distributor cap The temperature sensor next to the distributor Pick up coil ignition module No vacuum leaks ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT Do you think it could be my fuel pump or the TB sticking??? |
Throttle Position Sensor?

Check the elements on your mass air meter and make sure they are not covered in grease or dirt. Sometimes with K&N's the oil will get on the elements.

I had the exact same problem a long time ago. Lemme guess, pumping the accelerator makes it work a bit when it's in the throes of stalling. For me, it turned out to be a dying fuel pump. I replaced and it was like a new car. I had always had a problem, so when I replaced the pump, the car suddenly felt like I unleashed an extra 50 ponies. I actually managed to extend the life of my old pump before it by removing it and reversing the leads and running it backwards, causing black gunk to fly out of the intake port. Then I reinstalled and the old pump worked ok for another few months.
Give it a try and go 1 step up on the volume rating of the pump. |
Thanks a lot guys...you confirmed my latest ideas on what the problem can be. Im gonna check the MAF in a little bit and probably buy a new fuel pump soon. Thanks again....this site is freakin awesome!
