351w 4 bolt conversion anyone done it b4
Hey anyone ever converted a 2 bolt 351w to a 4 bolt with the aftermarket main caps they make. Just currious how much more power that made them capaible of handling. also i herd the 74 and older blocks were much stronger. anyone got any idea how much stronger or what they will hold up to
thanks kc |

As for the older blocks being stronger, I've heard the same thing over the years, but i'm beginning to question it. I'd love for somebody to do a nickle content test and weight test, and put that to rest one way or another. It could be true or it could be one of those "truths" that have been passed around from person to person so many times and for so long that it just becomes accepted as fact when it never was ? |
I also believe the 351W blocks weak spot isn't the mains themselves, and that you will be hurting more than helping trying to drill the caps for 2 more bolts. Don't waste your time. If you want main reinforcement, try a stud girdle (equally useless IMHO). I've heard they crack up the middle just like 5.0L blocks when subjecting to enough power.

I also believe the mains of the 351 are not a weak spot. I am sure there has been occasions when the main caps failed, but few and far between that I have personally heard or seen.
I aggree with Jonnyk's advice. Ryan |
