Auto to 5speed swap

How much trouble will i be getting myself into going from auto to 5speed? I know it can't be easy or inexpensive having to install the clutch and everything. How my bullcrap and money will i have to go through to make this happen, because i hate this c4 even though its built. How much money do you think it will take also? thanks guys

Compared to going in the other direction (which I just did), it's a breeze. You'll need to get a pedal set (which is going to be an enourmous hassle to install, believe me), the cable, flywheel, pressureplate and clutch disk (good time to get the upgraded parts) and t-5 crossmember (or modifying the auto crossmember though I think the c-4 uses a different x-member altogether but dont quote me on that). I know the AOD driveshaft is the same length as the t-5 but I'm not sure what the tail length of a C-4 is. So here's your parts list:

Rebuilt T-5 $800 (call Menard's in Chester NH they have them all the time and they work 100%. I've gotten 2 rebuilts from them)
Stock clutch/Pressureplate combo $150
Pilot bearing $20
Flywheel $75
Driveshaft $75
x-member $50
Pedals $50
Clutch cable $50
Plastic plate and shifter boot $50

These are incredibly rough numbers. If you have $1500 bucks laying around, you should be able to acquire all the parts. Install is a breeze compared to the horror of installing an AOD. You can actually lift a T-5 yourself. I usually wiggle under the car, pull the T-5 onto myself and use myself as a transmission lift =P

Well, have fun!
