what cam would be best

i got some work done to my 89 5.0. I got 75mm mass air meter, 70mm tb, edelbrock performer intake manifold, hedman headers, pace setter off road h pipe flowmaster cat back, kirban underdrive pulleys and 4.10 gears. the car pulls hard off the line and mid but then kinda dies out. i want to get a cam that would give me great power especially at the mid to high end rang. what cam would be great with all these upgrades. any help appreciated

thanks
dan

Dude it is way past time for some good heads. At least some GT-40's or something.

A cam wont do you any good with stock heads good.

I suggest 1.7 roller rockers to give you some additional lift on the stock cam.

Well, the most basic aftermarket cam is the FRPP E303 (aka Crane 2040). It's emissions legal, yet delivers reasonable top end and is hard to beat for the price.

If you don't have to stay emissions legal, then I'd look for a better cam than the E303. Comp Cams offers a lot of good grinds.

Comp Cams # 35-351-8 was designed to compete with the E303. Because this cam is not smog legal, it wasn't limited to the design constraints of the E303. It therefore makes more power.

This coming weekend, I'm switching my E-cam to the Comp Cam listed above. On a boosted car it's supposed to be worth 35+ hp.

Hope this helps!

Well take it from me, the e-cam is alright, but not really too impressive on topend, i got walked by an 02 SS with just an air lid, but that was at the 1000ft mark he came by:)
02 SS e.t.:12.94 @ 109.40
Mine:12.91 @ 105.50, he was charging hard on the top, but i had him beat out of the hole......

At least port those heads if you stick a cam in there.
one thing i should have done with my gt-40 heads was mill them down for more compression, that always makes a BIG difference.

I regret not going with the tfs1 cam, good price, and some good topend i hear....

p.s, dont put any aftermarket cam in, without upgrading valve springs, heh.... talk about no topend, try some stock springs on .529 lift:eek: do it right....good luck

Cool, I just replaced my E303 with a 35-324-8, it's the 112* LSA version of that cam (XE270HR). Haven't got the car back up and running yet though.
