Are throttlebody spacers crap?

Just wondering I did a search and read like every result and nothing was really said. I think they run like 80 bucks or so just wondering if anyone has one or knows anything about it. I dont think they would really do up with the ebay sellers claming up tp 22hp increase:p

while you're at it by the typhoon for your intake.

If you mean a phelonic spacer (between upper and lower intakes) the only thing that would ever do is give you a very very small increase in intake air velocity. There is some merit to that theory, that's why carb'ed cars like high rise manifolds.

Let me make this very clear though...

$80+ 120 = $200.

You cannot afford a headswap right now because you don't have enough money, right? Everytime you see something other than PI heads, write yourself a check for the amount of money the other part is, and deposit it into a "head fund".

At the rate you're going, you'll have enough money in a week.

spacers are crap. The head swap kits are coming down in price and a good nitrous kit is only 500 -700 bucks ( HP when you need it ) Watch e-bay or check the junk yards for a set of P.I heads or buy a used blower like I did for under 1,200 bucks!

I cant tell if your trying to help or being a smartass. Typhoon? No ones thats lame. And I already have a intake spacer and it was only 20 bucks and I was just asking about the tb spacer cause I wanted to know if anyone has one. And a headswap is like what a grand for the heads and then a lot for install...I mean this was just a fuckin topic not a I have one on order

The Deuce is not being a smarta$$, he's just trying to tell you to save your cash. If you REALLY want the TB and spacer, get them. But fact is, there's not much to gain. That $200 can be a nice start towards the purchase of a part that really works. The guys on here are just trying to help you get the most for your dollar.
If you want a cheap mod that will add power you can feel, I highly recogmend looking into a PI cam swap. You can find the used cams for a very good price online. Most dyno's are showing 10-14 rwhp gain. Then, down the road when you save some more money, you can always upgrade your heads and intake.

I've got the P.I. cams ready to go in. With the cost of the used cams ( $75 ) and the cost of gaskets etc.. and maybe the labor I'm looking at the 250 - 300 range for total cost. Way better than a T/B and spacer. Take duces advice and don't waste money on non performance junk. Your list of mods is a good start and now you are basically left with spending big bucks to get any more HP out of your pony. The cams are probably the lowest cost bang for your buck right now!

I WASNT going to buy one I just wanted to know if anyone had one to see what they even do and I heard about the PI cam swap and I thought I needed the PI heads too so I can just install a PI cam in my non pi 4.6?

The Deuce 11-24-2003 06:27 PM

you can put the pi cams in your heads at about half the price for half or a third the power.

not a bad way to go. It's like swapping cams on a 5.0 without changing heads..
