Gears and T.B.

I just purchased a 91 LX a week and 1/2 ago and have already made some modifications. A added a Mac Cat-back system, Mac Cold Air induction kit, Pro 5.0 Shifter, Pulleys, and gave her a good tune up. I plan on getting gears within the next couple of weeks. I was wondering if I should go with 3.55's or 3.73's? I do plan on adding a Holley Systemax 2 system in the future and then a supercharger, vortech, ATI?.. Any suggestions would be great on what gears to get and why.. I also plan on getting a new throttle body in the near future and was wondering what size I should go with, a 65mm or 70mm? Keep in mind my previous mods and also my future mods...

Thanks...

Since you will be adding a supercharger in the future, I would go with the 3.55's. Good street manners, good highway gas mileage and enough gear to get you down the track in reasonable fashion.

As for the TB, I think the Holley intake has a 70mm opening , but I am not sure on this. If it does, then you might as well go with the 70mm. I wouldn't go any bigger unless you are going to make your Stang into a drag-only type machine.

Congratulations on your purchase! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

I agree, cause you are going to be blowing it later, get 3.55s.

Thanks Guys.. I'm gonna go check and see if Summit has the Holley 70mm TB and spacer. I think they do.. I'm also gonna see if they have a Pro-M 75mm MAF. I'll need to schedule an appointment for the gears, I think you sold me on the 3.55's. I think it's gonna run me around $500 for them to do the swap. There aren't too many places around here to get work like that done..

Thanks Again..

500 is a little steep, most people pay about 400, but a good thing to try is to go to a few ford dealership service departments and ask if any of the guys does side work on the weekend and could do the gears, theres a guy here in my town that will do the swap for about $80 labor
