Re: Trans help
I would use the G-Force T-5 gearset upgrade kit that is now available. It is less than the price of a Tremec and you don't have to get a new bellhousing and shifter. Any trans shop could install it and works great for car around 3000lbs with sticky tires and 600hp.

I'm running a Tremec 3550 with King Cobra clutch, aluminum fly and Pro 5.0 shifter. Overall, I'm very happy with the Tremec. It shifts crisply and is definitely a more rugged tranny than the T5 - you can just feel the difference when shifting.
Now I just wish I could find a longer handle for my Pro 5.0 shifter - I hate how short it is! E |
Definatly get a G-Force T-5. They're ultra beefy:)

Any places online carry the G force T5?

Good info here, definately afraid of putting the turbo'd 331 on stock axles and just a T5 with alloy gears and a steel bearing retainer. No slicks for me for a while....

How do you think the tremec 3550 would hold up with a 347 as a daily and the occasional spray of NOS ( 100hp )
|
If your set on getting a tremec i would get the TKO, it is just a few hundred $ more but can handle 500+ flbs, I would still have to recomend the G-Force T-5 kit, at less money than the tremecs with more power capacity. Also a tremec weighs around 40lbs more than the g force t5.

G-Force T-5 Synchronized Upgrade Kits $1,000
Is this the kit?, I see one for $1,500 also |
The G-Force T-5 upgrade kit is $995-1000 and includes:
26 spline input shaft, heavy duty 1,2,3 speed gears, hd counter shaft. Mainshaft is reused or you can upgrade for more$. |
X2C Motorsports has a great rebuilt Tremec offer. They disassemble and reassemble new Tremec's to their specifications and it seems as though they are quite a lot more reliable and stronger than a standard Tremec.
