BBK or Hooker Super Comp longtubes?
During my switch over to the 351w based engine I was wondering which header would be the best choice. I am considering the Hooker Super Comps or the bbk chrome longtubes. They both have 1 3/4" tubes with 3" collectors, but the Hookers are about $100 more. The BBKs look better, but I was wondering if anyone has used either of these in their swaps and do they fit well? Just by looking at them, the BBKs seem to be the way to go, but I would like some opinions. Thanks!

I used the BBK swap long tubes on my stang and they fit great. Easy to install, don't leak and at a reasonable price. Also the Hooker's come black, and you all know what happens to that.....my chrome BBKs barely tarnished in a year of use. BBK is the only exhaust I would every buy again.

Hey there i also have the BBK longtube, they are crome and its weird because they did tarnish and even have a mild rust on them. but they work well
|
I've got BBK longtubes on my car and they fit like crap. One tube touches the starter. The other side rubs the steering shaft. I had to shim the motor mounts 1/2" to keep the rag joint from hitting one of the tubes. I'll never buy another BBK product again.

I had the hooker and the mac long tubes and the hooker headers were much better. IMO
Also sounded better. |
Ive got some hooker super comps and if your goin for looks go bbk if you want max power go hooker

Kooks will be very easy to install because the tubes are all seperate and slide into the collector, they will also make the most power as long as you dont get too big for your combo.
They will need to be coated, mine did not come coated and I paid 300 to have them coated. I have over 1000 in mine. For what you are looking for I would go with the hooker headers, They will build more power than the bbk and mac, They did fit better that the mac but I have no experience with the bbk. The hooker sounded a lot better than the mac longtubes did too. |

You just got me out of the dog house....I just showed your list to my wife and told her "see honey, I am not the only guy to spend over 30,000 dollars on a build up!:D " As goes for the headers, yea if it was only between the Hooker and BBK headers then yea, I would have to agree with you and say the Hookers (that name even sounds better. :D ) It's just that a saw "if you want max power, go with ...) I just wanted my two cents in....sorry, I know nobody wanted it.:( :( ...:D |
Thanks for all the comments. I will let you know which ones I decide to go with!

Hey Mean50 you were right on the money with the kooks fit and more power, And if he were like me and you he would have to have the best.
The funny thing about your comment is I was adding up everything I have in my car and I really have spent over 30k on it. Almost depressing:(, I hope my wife does not read this. She does not know how much I have really spent on this car. She would kill me if she knew. She only knows about 15 to 20k, she would kill me.:D |
BTW:Nice car!!!!!
What does it run? |

Haha sorry, It was to you!

420 nitro I was refering to your car.
I was at a friends house and he has dial up service and I get frustrated with the slow speed and did not take my time to read the post carfully.  :p |
Tell me about it....can't live with out broad band! Dail up is pain full!:(
But yea have to agree, got to have the good ****...Got to pay if you want to be the boss:cool: As goes for how fast the car is....I havn't made a pass yet....just finished...A couple guys with simlar parts went L-O-W 10's off the spray. If my car runs consistant mid tens off the bottle then I would be happy. Car went 10.90's with last set-up. P.S Car is set up for the "Big Shot Plate" from NOS. Later |
Nice, I am hopeing for low 9's on the spray and mid 10's off the spray.
I have mine set up for a 250 shot. I have the edelbrock performer rpm setup. |
I plan on hitting it with a 200 shot and hoping for a solid 9 sec. pass. I know, people say it should be no problem but the cam has a 108 lobe seperation.
So I guess we just see what happens. Good luck with your combo. |
