Too Much or Not Enough.
I bought all the typical mods for my motor and it still does not seam to have the power i want.
Holley 4160 Ported performer dual plane Windsor sr. heads. hooker super comp headers. free flowing exhaust. Comp cams roller rockers 1.6 only thing stock is cam. so thinking im running lean or rich. haved tried many jets from 65 to 68's and cant seem to find any differance. plugs look tan and seem so make no change. also tried plug gap with no differance. what is restricing my power here? what else should i try. only thing left to upgrade is cam. motor builds rpm pretty good but just does not seem to have it. c4 trans with 3.55's 2,800 lbs 66 coupe. |
What type and size motor, header size? Which stock cam? Stick or auto?

Sorry I overlooked your C-4 description. How high does it stall?

this is my friends posting apparently he used my name...lol...he has his own. brandyn use your name...lol...he was at my house. btw his stall is stock

With those mods, the cam is killing u. The heads alone are too much for a stock cam. I bet u money, if u get yourself a nice cam, a lot of that missing power will show up. U also will need to get at least a 2000 stall convert.

Without knowing what size engine and which "stock" cam (some stock cams make great combinations) you have it's hard to say how much potential is there with a cam change - but I'm still guessing there is a significant improvement there. You do need to be careful not to over cam your combo with that stock stall converter. You'll need a "fast action" cam - quick valve action which will call for less duration while increasing lift. This opens another can of worms as a good strong valve spring is necessary and preferably a roller cam (hydraulic). An early intake opening, somewhere in the 108-110 degree area will help with bottom end power - something you'll need with that automatic as well as proper ignition timing and curve. Good luck!
