170 thermostat
I have a 170 thermostat and was just wondering if I should have a 180 or 195 in. I heard that running a little hotter might wake up a few ponies. It runs ALOT cooler than when I got it bone stock. Anyone have any suggestions?

You shouldn't be running anything less than a 190F thermostat if you're still EEC-IV controlled. At 170F, the computer would never getting out of warm-up mode which will result in reduced timing and richened fuel.
Put a 190F in it. ------------------ Jeff Chambers Trophy Stock #3 11.97 Seconds / 114.5 MPH Chambers Racing Team |
where do u live? Run the thermostat temp. rating that will keep your car running at the temp you want it for the climate u live in. I have to run a 180 high flow stat (i wouldnt go lower than 180) and my car still runs hot in the summer, and in the winter, sometimes doesnt get up to 180 at all.
