Do I need to run tubes with Hoosier slicks

I have a new set of 26x10 Hoosier slicks. Do I need to run tubes in them or not. I have heard you don't need them on Hoosiers, but don't know for sure.

You don't have to run tubes in a drag slick, or at least I stop running them in all of my M/T's. The problem you will have is that the tire will go flat in about a day. As with an inner tube it will hold the air for a longer period of time, like a normal tire.

Yeah, what 420nitro said...

All of them suggest running tubes, but you don't have to, but tire will go flat like he said, b/c side walls are thin and cannot keep air like a regular radial.

Are there any downsides to running tubes?

Adds rotating weight to the car and on real big tires (tubbed cars)
they seem almost impossiable to balance.

Coating the insides with dish soap helps them hold air. I haven't had mine drop any air pressure with this trick but I haven't left them on my car for longer than 6 hours though. I also take most of the air out of them when I'm done at the track as well(that way I can fit at least one of them in my hatch with the battery box).
