Holley Blue Pump Noise
 

Has anyone else noticed their Holley blue pump is really noisy? Maybe it's just that I haven't ran it with the car running, but I ran some gas through the regulator (not sure what pressure it's set at, need a gauge still) into a cup and it was noisy as hell. Could be that the car isn't insulated at all and there's no carpeting. Anyway, let me know if that's normal.

Its normal. It quiets down some if you run a return-style system as it relieves the dead head load. It also quiets down quite a bit if you use 3" Dynomax Race Magnum Bullet mufflers!:D

They are loud.
You can mount the pump to a bracket with rubber spacers. Then mount the bracket to the frame with rubber spacers. That helps quite a bit in the buzzzzz.

Mine is the same way!! Super loud!!! I mounted it on a plate with thick rubber under the mounting tabs. I'm putting a pressure bypass on the pump to relieve the deadhead load too. Once I fix it that is. I have a leak from somewhere on the pump.

So, don't feel weird, the Blue is just a really loud pump. I wonder what two will sound like (one for the engine, one for spray)?

MIne is loud. I ran a return line and it helped quite a bit.

But with open headers I dont notice it so much:D

What size feed line and return line do you run?
Which return style regulater do you run?

The feed line is 1/2 inch Aeroquip push lok line. For the return I use the stock return line that is under the car. I just run a piece of rubber fuel line from the regulator to the end of that line in the passenger side inner fender well. Im using a stock pickup with the return line fitting made in. I just connected the rear of the line to the pickup with another piece of rubber hose.

I am running a Holley FPR that comes with the Holley blue if you order from Summit. Or you can get the regulator sepeate for like 34 dollars. I am running a duel feed carb.. and running the return line between the FPR and the rear feed line. I havent run this setup yet so im not sure how it is going to work really. I will take a few pics of this and send them to anyone who is interested. I have a pretty neat little set up I think. You dont want a full 3/16 return line at the front end of the car.. You only want the return to allow what extra fuel isnt needed to be sent back to the tank.

FYI, since I am injected now-adays, I dont need the Autometer Gauge... Asking $20.

Mine is also loud :) But does anyone know what pressure they are running theres at ? Ive got a regulator that is set at only about 4.5 cause it was overloading the motor with fuel. Is it differnt if its a fuel injected car ?

I'm running a carter street/strip pump and it is about the same as my holley blue was for noise- both noisy as hell. You get used to it though, I miss it when I drive other cars. Plus, you'll know damn well if your fuel pump fails.
Oh yeah, I'm running 6 3/4 lbs of fuel pressure.
