Shifters??
Alright I'm lookin at getting a Pro 5.0 shifter to replace the stocker, and I was just wondering what everyones opinion of this shifter is??
Or if you don't like this shifter, let me know what a better one is. I'm open to all opinions. |
I've been out of the game for a little while now but I had a Pro 5.0 in my '95 before I had to get rid of it and I could not imagine another shifter making me as happy as that one did.
Good luck with whatever you choose. |
like my steeda tri-ax. i think the tri-ax or the pro 5.0 are the best 2 out there. you will notice a little more tranny noise that leaks out. its not too bad, u get used to it, i heard the pro 50 also makes the tranny a little more noticable. the aftermarket shifters do away with the sound deadening properties of the stock shifter.
better shifting > little more interior noise |
I have had the hurst and the Pro 5.0 shifter. I say go for the Pro 5.0 shifter!!
|
Thanks for the opinions, and keep them coming.
I'm aware of the extra tranny noise that I'll get with the aftermarket shifter, since I have a Hurst Billet/Plus in my 98 Ranger. But its nothing too drastic. |
Steeda Tri-ax, hands down.

Pro 5.0
Another vote for the Pro 5.0
Easy install and solid reliability for four years now and that on my beater T-5 with now sketchy synchros. |
Pro 5.0 or Steeda for sure. I have the Steeda and love it. I chose it over the Pro 5.0 since it was a little cheaper but it also allows for two height positions and maintains the stock shifter angle which I like. The Pro 5.0 angles it further back I believe. Can't go wrong with either one.

ive got the steeda tri ax shifter and i love it
|
We use Pro-5.0 on both cars and love them, we have tried hurst too and will stick with the pro50 from now on.
|
I have the steeda tri-ax shifter. I like it a little better than the pr0 5.0 but both are great!
|
Another vote for the Triax. Spring loads into 3rd gear!!! Great feel!!! I had the same problem trying to decide between the Pro5.0 and the Triax, but I heard more good things about the Triax. Either one is better than stock.
|
I still have a stock shifter but i installed UPR's billet adjustable shifter handle. It mad a heck of a difference in the throw and the position of the shift handle. At only 30 bucks it made a great difference.

I guess I am the only one so far who doesn't lik their Steeda. I am running a Tremec 3550 and absolutely hate this shifter. Or maybe its just the tranny I hate. Anyway, when I feel the shifts with my Steeda, compared to a buddy who has a Pro 5.0 on his stock T-5, I get jealous. It just seems that the shifts are way too long with the Tri-Ax. I actually swapped to a Pro handle and like it a little better. If I had to do over, I would definately go with the Pro. Just my $.02 though.

I've got the Pro-5.0 on my Tremec and really like it. However, I would really like to get a longer handle for it. Seems a bit too short for my liking.
Other than that, its great. E |
Anyone use the Pro 5.0 with the Kona stick?
|
What's the Knoa stick? Is it longer?
Thanks, E |
It looks about the same length, only set back more toward the driver and looks better. You can get it in steel or titanium stick, check them out at www.konaracing.com
I hadn't heard of them til I saw one on ebay last week, I'm probably gonna buy one in a few weeks and if I don't like it I'll just replace the stick. |
Ive used the pro 5.0 and tried a few B&M shifters and one friend with the B&M says my shifter feels alot better. Id personally go for the pro 5.0 but i would also like to give a triax a try.
|
Well........I've had the Hurst since 1993 and it's been great. But its been my only shifter.
