E303
i have a cobra 5.0 and i put an E303 cam in it. i was wondering how much should i advance the timing? thanx.

mods?
What other mods do you have done to your car? What gears are in the rear? I'd try somewhere between 13-15 degrees btdc. Just play around with it until it feels like it's running the best.

I agree with the above statement. I run 16 degrees of initial timing with my E-303 cam.
|
Got mine set at 16* too. You may notice with the E-cam that you will have to raise the idle slightly. I have to keep idle between 850 and 900 rpms to keep from surging.

ive got the E303 cam, under drive pulleys,RPM 2 intake,70 mm throttle body, roller timing chain, 4.10 rear end, full exhaust,1.7 crane RR's. I think the timing is about 10-11 degrees..... any recommendations.? which the timing should be at. I only run 93 octane.??????????? thanx

I would put it at 15 dgrees if it were mine.

timing
alright thanx ill try settin the timing at 15 degrees

I always heard that the stock balancer were not that accurate.(if you even are running a stock balancer)
I would just start at a conservative numer like 12 btc and keep advancing it till you hear a slight ping. Then back it off 2-3 degrees. I have seen Mustangs run best at 11degrees btc and 22 degrees btc and everything in between with the e-cam. ** And yes the same combo with the same compression and the same fuel.** My 2 cents. |
I'd recommend about 14-15 degrees. I have the E-303 and I run my car at around 12 on 93 just because mine doesn't like the extra timing. I don't really feel any noticeable power increase, and the car runs noticeably rougher. It won't even run 16 degrees without upping the fuel rail pressure to stop it from pinging badly.
