how much compresion with stock rods and crankshaft
 
How much compresion can a 5.0 hold with stock rods and crankshaft? . Im using a 12.00 compresion but i want to put more
like 13.00 what u guys thing ? I need to now before start the ensambling work.

I ran a little over 13:1 with a stock crank, Crower Sportsman rods and GT-40P heads in a motor that made about 465hp at the crank (on the engine dyno). Stock rods would do the same as long as they've got decent bolts in them.

Jeff, thanks for the advise. And also what kind of rod bolts you recomend me ill be thinking in the ARP the ones of 40 dlls. But if there are any ones better i apreciatte if you have the part number.

Hey Jeff,
Do you have to re-size the stock rods if you're changing the rod bolts?

I've been told many times that its a must when changing bolts, so I figured I'm gonna ask around to find out for sure.

Yep, you should check the big end sizing. Different bolts will distort the big end differently so you need to torque 'em up and check/resize.
