Accufab 70mm plenum/throttle body.

I saw this on a web site. They were claiming "the NEW Accufab 70mm plenum + 70mm throttle body, for the ultimate intake combination! Combined power of 10HP / 15TQ on bolt on GT!"

Its around 450 for both before shipping and is only 10 rwhp.

Can anyone vouch for these numbers? and is 10 hp good for $450 bucks? Anyone know of a better brand/better results/lower price?

I'm still looking around, but I am going to get the steeda shifter, some "show" items, and am still looking into a few other things. I also saw on the same site that the mustang gt had 252 hp baseline. I know the 260 claimed is crank hp. has anyone dyno'd a stock gt? what was your hp?

also the steeda underdrive pulleys. Do they really give you 8-10 hp as claimed?

I know it this is getting long... so i will stop here for now

Stock GT's tend to dyno in the neighborhood of 230 rwhp with a 5-speed.
If you do a search on corral.net, there is alot of discussion and dyno results there on the various upper intake plenums made for 2V's (Accufab, C&L, Trick Flow, Dragon, etc.). They seem to be a good bang for the buck mod.
As for underdrive pullies, they are definitely high up there on the bang for the buck list and from what I have seen they do give you the gains they claim.

I second Blue GT.

One nice thing about the TB's and the plenums is that they can support additional mods down the road. I mean to say, they can help them work better. Also, they improve torque nicely through the power bands too.

yes thats a good price for the gains you get but if you want to save a little cash dont get the accufab t/b its over priced and maybe adds .4 hp over other you can get a mac 70mm t/b and the c&l plenum for abut 300 shipped at www.crmotorsports.com

Anyone tried the Ford Racing 70mm T/B?

xxxBlakexxx 02-15-2004 01:20 PM

I don't believe that TB's differ too much. Some companies make a polished on...but that's just an appearance thing.

96_4.6 02-17-2004 11:12 AM

Yea Tb's differ. You get what you pay for, I have heard more negitvie things about the mac TB then positive. You can score one for 120 on ebay brand new, looks good, sounds good but I heard more people complain then say it was quality.

GTvert 02-17-2004 11:59 AM

I heard the same thing, something about it not fitting right?

Definitely get the pullies, A good bang for the buck.Make sure that you get the ones that replace the damper, not the piggy back style.

xxxBlakexxx 02-17-2004 04:37 PM

Thanks guys for the TB response...I never realized there was much of a difference.

Snakeman 02-18-2004 12:18 PM

i like the Accufab T/B

here's mine
not the 70mm 2V model, but i can vouch for the quality

I have only seen pully's that "piggy back". Who makes ones that do not?

acidskie 02-23-2004 09:21 PM

Steeda does.

Jason1320 02-25-2004 10:40 AM

Is there a difference in application between the 70mm and 75mm T/B and plenum? There seems to be no price difference. Why would you choose the 70 over the 75? Is more not always better in this case?

acidskie 02-27-2004 02:04 AM

Anyone???? I would like to know as well.

blue00gt 02-27-2004 03:53 PM

Changing to bigger intake and exhaust parts will only gain you power if they are a restriction. If you go too big, you will lose a ton of torque down low and maybe gain an inconsequential amount of hp on the top end. Without changing the plenum or adding forced induction I wouldn't go over stock or 70mm TB at most, and you won't see any gains with the 70mm without other mods.

urstangsmoke 02-27-2004 04:29 PM

aren't 02 and 03 stangs stock 80mm ? i have been told that my a few people. if i chose to go with a C&L 85 mm MAF, 75 mm TB and plenum, would thisinconsequently leed to downed torque down low?
by the way, the steeda underdrive pulleys are everything they're cracked up to be

blue00gt 02-27-2004 08:17 PM

Yes, the MAF on '02 and '03 stangs is 80mm - I was talking about the TB.
There is nothing wrong with going with the 75mm if you are getting the plenum and MAF also. People have seen 20+ rwhp on the dyno with these mods along with an aftermarket intake elbow.

xxxBlakexxx 02-27-2004 09:34 PM

The latest issue of MM&FF had dyno results on the 70 mm and 75 mm TB and the C&L Plenun. The 75 mm TB had the best gains when used with the plenum. 12+ HP and 14+ Torque. The author stated that the "car pulls like a train in 4th geer" with these mods. I believe the 70 mm TB with the plenum put up 9 HP, but I don't have the article in front of me.

Good gains, but not quite as advertised.

urstangsmoke 02-28-2004 01:24 PM

thanks for clearing that up i was a little confused. those gains seem good enough for me. thanks for the info

acidskie 03-01-2004 07:44 AM

Yes! Thanks much.
