injectors
I recently bought a Pro-M 75mm blow through MAF and am wondering where I can purchase 36 lb injectors. FRPP doesn't sell them anymore and I haven't found any online vendors who offer them. -Phil

What type of combo are you running or do you plan to run? I ask because there have been quite a few threads lately about injectors. People are often quick to jump to bigger injectors before they are really needed.
|
I will be running a Vortech S-trim @ ~12 lbs of boost. I don't believe that 36 lb injectors will be too much more than my needs. That was the recommendation I've been getting from everyone here. I have everything setup to run 36's, my issue is I cannot find anywhere to purchase them.

The closest I could find were 38lbs units from Lucas at Anderson Ford Motorsport (part no. L-62 1030). Could Pro-M recalibrate the meter for you to match this flow rate?
The other thing you could do is search the classifieds for some used 36#'s or check ebay. Just some ideas. E |
If 36#'rs are hard to find, buy some 42's and have the meter re-calibrated. Cause if you happen to find a set, and would need just one or something, you would be screwed.
Granted, I am running 30#'rs and a FMU:D |
42's are too large for my application. Does anyone know why FRPP stopped making 36 lb injectors?
|
Steeda used to sell the 36's. New 36's are going to run more $$ than 42's. I would try to find a used set of 36's or just go with the 42's. Do you have h/c/i as well as the blower? Even if you don't, running 12#'s without a fmu, I think you'll be ok with 42's.
|
Steeda and Proficient Performance both carry 36#ers, but for $400.
I got a set of 42#ers I'd sell ya for like $225. I used em only upon start up, the car was NEVER driven with em. I've also got a Vortech 80 mm Maxflow Meter for the 42#ers if your interested(also used only on startup). I'll give em both up for $350, I pay shipping. Just let me know if your interested. |
StangCrazy, not planning on doing heads or cam right now. I do have a gt40 lower w/ downs box upper intake though.
Stang_racer20, I am interested, seeing as how the cheapest I've found 4 accel 36 lb injectors is $370 + shipping. But would it work? If it was for your car you have a 92 and I have a 94, I have no idea if the mass would be compatible. Also, everyone talks about how so many people are going overkill on injectors. I know I won't run out of headroom w/ the 36's. |
As for the overkill with injectors, I think people are just too quick jumping to bigger sizes when they are not needed. You could probably run bigger injectors and not really hurt your performance. When I speak of the overkill, I think of people just buying bigger injectors and never really having a use for them, so they are just wasting their money when their combo could be running fine on stock injectors.

Would 36# SVO ford injectors work on my car? I only ask because they came out of an LT1 383. So another question is, is there any difference between the injectors for an LT1 motor vs. Ford's 302?
|
IMOHO, 36# are not enough. Found out myself when I bought some, only to go to 42# later. Get the 42's and recal you meter.
Contact this guy, and tell him I sent ya: askennedy@mindspring.com |
36#ers are more than enough cause his engine is basicly stock and and not stroked with Heads cam and an intake like yours.
