Cam Head lope question

How do I get the engine to have a lope sound? Do I need a cam?

A cam with pretty good lift/overlap and good exhaust. The ford E-303 has a pretty lopey idle, but a lot of people sem to have problems getting a steady idle (my car idled fine though), the Trickflow stage 1 cam is pretty similar in lift with a little less overlap than the e-303 and is pretty cheap. I'd try it along with good headers, h-pipe or X-pipe and some flowmaster 40's.

why exactly do you want a lope sound?

A big cam with stock/stockish heads and intake just slows you down.

the B303 has more lope than E cuz of longer duration.. an works pretty good with stock parts.. so u could consider that.

The B-303 is a crappy cam. With stock heads just stick with the stock cam.

A mild cam has to help slightly, my car's a pretty stock coupe with longtubes/Dr. Gas x-pipe/flowmasters with the stock cam. My friends GT had short tubes/BBK x-pipe/flowmasters and an E-303 cam and he pulls away from me everytime and his motors pretty beat with well over 120k miles on it, mine only has around 68k and my cars a little lighter. I'm sure the cam's given more of a gain for the money than most other things besides gears.

b cam put me into the mid 12's so unless u've used it dont knock it but stock cam prolly would be best utill u get beter heads an intake

Wierd,..My e-cam had way more of a noticable idle then the b-cam ever did.
Lobe seperation has a major factor too. 110LC will make the engine rump harder then a cam with a 112-114LC. Duration is not the only factor. In a matter a fact the size of the motor will also make a cam run smoother.
Example: 306 with a e-cam will rump harder then a 347 with a e-cam. With the exception of a louder tone.
I picked up 3 tenthes over the B-cam on motor but gave up 3 tenthes on spray.
Car sounded meaner and went faster on motor but didn't on spray.
