No anti-freeze
Our track requires that we run no anti-freeze in out cars to be able to run. It opens on the 26th.
Anyways I was just wondering if this could hurt anything? It would be pretty rare for the temperature to dip below 0*c at this time of the year. But doesnt anti-freeze have anti-corrosion additives and other things that help keep the cooling system running smooth? Running 100% water shouldnt be a problem? Thanks |
Redline makes a product called Water Wetter that I believe is NHRA compliant for cooling systems. It basically replaces your antifreeze, yet provides the same protections without the slipperiness.

Yep, run two bottles of water wetter and the rest straight water. Soft water is preferable.

Cool thanks a lot

I've heard that rule a few times as well, but at 5 or 6 different NHRA sanctioned tracks that I've raced at, it hasn't been an issue. I run about 30-40% coolant year round.

Ive actually never heard about that here. You can run anything since its a street legal class that most people race in and most people dont have much more done than a big exhaust tip on their civic's.

Search for posts by PKRWUD in this forum. He has some interesting things to say about antifreeze and what it does, how much to use, etc. Really good stuff.

Speaking of him....Where'd he go anyway?

water wetter is good but try 40 below Better in my opinion--If it can keep my flathead running cool it will keep just about anything cool!LOL
