FPR Problem

Yesterday after fueling up at the gas station i decided to bump down the fuel pressure a little. So i unplugged the vaccumm line and unscrewed the lock nut and adjusted the screw to 35 psi and zipped her back up. Well i ran her home and the next day when i started the car up it started loading up real bad so i popped the hood and looked at the fp gauge and it was on like 50psi!!! Now here is the kicker, i can turn the adusting screw clockwise and the fuel pressure WILL climb. Now if i turn the adjusting screw counter clockwise it Will fall however when it reaches around 50 psi the adjusting screw looses tension ( it can be turned with my fingers) so im thinking something is screwed with the regulater. Also i had a guy get into the car and rev the car the the fuel pressure goes down and not up. Is that normal for the fuel pressure to drop instead of going up. Just to give some insight the car is a 331 with 8.5 compression for boost but not running any yet. Also im running 24lb injectors with stock fuel lines and rails, 255 in tank fuel pump. All help is appreciated.

When it looses tension, it is just as low as it can go. Now, My old problem was I could not go lower than 40 on my guage. Got a new reg. and Bam, 37, right where I wanted it. What are you using for a guage setup? Sounds to me like the guage might be going Fubar....

mallory unit, its only about a year old. the thing that confuses me is that i had the unit on 35 psi and now the lowest it will read is 50. I know it should go lower than that. wierd, hey ive checked your car on cardomain.com That is a sweet turbo kit you got. Im working on a DIY setup right now.

It could be that the AFPR is taking a crap. Do you still have the stock one? If so just thorw it on and see what happens.

Ackbar00, hows that turbo setup? Is it a pretty complete/straight forward kit? I'm looking to go with either a turbo or blower setup possibly this year and I'm just trying to find out what companies have the best setup/customer service.

well i relieved the fuel pressure and pulled the fp guage and upon pulling the guage off i noticed the needle still pointing at 30psi!!!!OOOPS!!! so i put a new one on and havent had any problems. Go figure

Pretty straight forward. No real surprises, had to do a little bit of modification to the pipework, but not a lot. Had pretty good service with PTK, ran in to the typical "Blame it on the coaters" speall, but overall, I was pleased with PTK and would recommend them to others. Not cheap though, a Novi 1000 would be several thousand cheaper than a turbo, but 120 mph trap speed untuned, is worth it to me.:D

Z28EATR - Glad you found the problem
