Min Octane for 1999 GT recommended by Ford

Hi everyone! I don't own a Mustang myself yet (looking into the 05 :) ) but one of my best friends recently got himself a 99 GT about 3 months ago.

Anyways as you all know gas hasn't been cheap lately and V8s are not kind on fuel mileage. :(

He has been using Octane 93 on it so far but we were wondering what Ford actually suggests to use for his car? Can regular (87 octane) be used on his car?

Thanks in advanced!

Yes 87 is fine for a gt, its in the manual 87 and above is fine.

every penny he spent on 93 was wasted!!!! you only need 93 when you have higher compression or bumped timming. If he is running a blower or has an aggressive speed chip he needs higher octane. If it is stock tell him to quit wasting his money!

Thanks very much for the replies guys! I'll be sure to pass this info along to him, he sure is going to be happy, well and pissed from all the money he's spent before on 93 octane.:D

Thanks again!
