Breaking in a cam?
I got a new Z303 cam and new roller lifters and roller rockers and I heard people talking about having to break in a cam when it is new. What exactly do I have to do?
|
Im not really sure, but i think the only cams that need broken in are just flat tappet cams. Since yours is roller, you should be able to just put it in and go. You may want to idle it up for about 5 minutes just in case, then change the oil to get all of the install lubricants out.

Thanks for backing me up on that.

Actually from what i've learned at tech school and working at the dealership is any cam still needs to be broken in a bit. 10 minutes at 1500 rpm is what i did and was suggested to do.

When i bought my new roller cam i did a bit of looking and the roller cams dont really need any break in. But if you want to do it im sure it wouldnt hurt anything.
