Best Electric Fan
I'm looking to replace my staock fan and I need some opinoins from the gallery. I want to get a Black Magic fan, but I've heard that they aren't that good. What do you all think?

I'm running the Proform 15", identical to the black magic but with a far cheaper price tag. Sells for around $129 from Jegs, compared to $199 for the Black Magic.
The fan runs perfectly, and keeps my engine plenty cool. Very simple install. |
Depends on how much you want to spend. I had a black magic fan once. It's ok. You still running an A/C and all other type of things or what?
I run the Spal electric fans. They are not cheap, but work great. My car even has a stock 5.0 water pump with a Fluidyne rad with no problems. 400 plus cubes w/ 10.5 to 1 compression. Never sees over 190. My 2 cents. |
Electric fans....
In Sandusky, OH, you might be able to get away with the Black Magic/Proform kit, but they really are marginal for our cars, especially once you've got a few mods. In my opinion, you won't go wrong with these: Lincoln Mark VIII SN95 Mustang electric Taurus (equipped with 3.8 V6 - late 80's-mid 90's) Ramchargers dual electric fan SPAL dual electric The good thing about the OEM fans is that you can find them cheaply at the salvage yards. You will have to fabricate or buy your own fan control setup. I really recommend this one: http://www.dccontrol.com You can check out some pics of my Taurus fan install at http://photos.yahoo.com/miamifiveoh -- Click on the Car Pictures folder. Good luck, |
If u want cheap, go to the junk yard and find an v6 taurus. My buddy is running an electric fan that he found at the junkyard and it cools his 351 just fine, u will have to provide your own thermostat setup

I have been running the Perma-Cool fan from Summit I have the PRM-19115 16" fan with the adjustable thermostat kit, part #PRM-18905. It has the adjustable temperature switch. It cost $89 for the fan and $50 for the thermal sensor. So far I have been very pleased with it. I have had it about a month. I still need to play with the temperature to get it set right. The fan flows @2950cfm, which is the highest out of all the fans I looked at. Good price too. Hope this information helps you. The fan keeps my temperature around 190 deg. with a 180 thermostat. Would help if i could keep the rest of the car tuned though.

I'm running a Black Magic and so far I like it. Keeps the car cool, looks good, and easy to install.

T-bird 2 speed fan with the dccontroil unit - very nice combo.

Every NASCAR team from top to bottom of the field use a single SPAL 16" pull fan. If there was anything better, they'd use it. When you're drafting at 190 mph inches apart at Talladega, there isn't much airflow through the radiator, and you need all the help they can get. Call C&R Racing 317-293-4100 and order P/N IX-30102036. www.crracing.com

Maybe there isn't anything better than the SPAL, but there are lots of junkyard or new FORD fans that will be more than adequate for the job and a lot cheaper.
