Engine Lift Plate
I'm finally going to get my baby back on the road. I am pulling the motor to install my new Tremec/Bellhousing and clutch. While I have it out I'm going to install new gaskets all around. My question is this... Have any of you used the engine lift plates that bolt to the lower intake to pull your motor? Something about this just makes me uncomfortable but in theory, it should be better than hanging it off of a single bolt in each head....right?
Thanks for any imput you may have. |
I use them all the time. Car Shop has an EFI lift plate that will fit several different lowers.

I have never used them, but I am sure if Andy uses them then they work. I just used the stock brackets that were mounted on opposite corners of the engine. They were both held on with 2 bolts and were sandwiched between the headers and heads.

Ive used both methods.....no problems.

I use one as well with my little 4bbl intake and it works great pulling everything out at once.

Many people use the lift plate, no problem.
I personally do the 2 stock lift hooks (pieces of metal attached to the exhasut ports on #2 and #8, so that I can use a load-leveler and balance the motor and rock it how I need to... http://www.dariusrudis.com/mustang/n...e/dsc01125.jpg (this was the first time I pulled the motor WITHOU tranny, as I already had the TKO out for repairs...) |
