Will Drag Radials Work?
Will they? I'm just curious because when I ran my car at the track a few weeks ago, my best time was 14.35 at 99.99mph, and that was with a 2.275 60 ft. I had to launch between 2000-2500rpm just to keep from spinning too much. I have a huge speaker box in my trunk that probably weights about 50-60 pounds, and my tools which is probably another 30-40 pounds. Would my time drop if I take these things out of my car?
My mph seems kinda high for a 14 second car, does this mean I could dip in the 13's with Drag Radials? |
Yes.................sticky tires = high 13's for your car.

Great! Sound good for a stock engine.

Thanks for the reply. I'm ordering some BFG Drag Radials, 275 50 15's.

You do have 15x8's in the rear..... right???
Other wise you might have a bit of trouble getting those tires on. If they are the stock rims...(15x7) you can fit 265/50/15 on those. You will also need to remove the quad shocks to fit that size tire. And when you remove the quad shocks you will need some sort of traction device to stop wheel-hop...,like mega-bites, traction bars, ssb's... |
IMO drag radials are a waste of money for drag racing. If you want a little better grip on the street thats fine but for hard launches and good ET's drag radials suck.
Buy some slicks and some stock spare rims. Same price but much better performance. I never hooked on drag radials. |
Yeah i have 15X8 draglites in the rear with 15X3's up front. I currently have 265 50 15 in the rear with the quad shocks still on the car.
I'll look into buying some slicks. What brand do you all recommend? Thanks for all the replies. |

ET-DRAG 26x10 or 26x8.5 |
I forgot it's lowered...opps....just get 26x8.5 et drag you will hook fine on those! If you have any problems just unbolt your sway-bar links at the track!

Thanks.

When i had my car my best run was a 13.309@102.29 this was after slicks and suspension, before that my best was 13.99@100.49 and the 2nd best was 14.1@99.9mph, i had horrible wheel hop, traction will drop your time considerably.

I'd suggest 26x12.5 ET street. That's about the same size as a 26x10 ET Drag, because the two are measured differently.
A 10" ET Drag, a 12.5" ET Strett, and a P275 tire are all roughly about the same width -Josh, aka the tireburner |
