93'Mustang Gt, Should i buy?
im in the market for a car, always wanted a 90-93 mustang gt, something about them attracts me (differnt story) anyway there asking $7800 obo.
Here are the mods. eibach sportline lowering springs mac caster/camber plates 17x9 chrome cobra r's with new 255/40/17 kumho tires all the way around, clutch is almost a year old pro 5.0 short shifter as far as the engine goes it has had new plugs, wires 30 amp alternator with a interstate battery aluminum driveshaft new 3.73 ford motorsport gears fully synthetic gear oil about 8 months ago All fluids have been changed regularly "i am a mechanic and i take very good care of this car all the work was done by me." mac off road h-pipe 2-chamber flowmaster exhuast with turn downs mac cold air intake. kenwood mp3 player with infinity and polk speakers. painted about a year ago and looks great but i had a minor fender bender and the car needs a front bumper cover and some paint work but nothing major. The car looks good inside and out and runs and drives great, not like one with 148,000 miles on it. The car has no leaks and is very tight. You probably wont find a nicer car in the fox body style. $7800obo is it a good deal? and if so what would be a reasonable bargain price, dont want to insult his car. thx for the advice. John. |
thats a little pricey for 148k. also remember 93's dont have forged pistons.
if i were you and u were willing to spend 7grand on a mustang, id go for a nice un-molested low mile 5.0. i dont know how prices are around where u are, but here in chicago a clean low mile 5.0 can be found for 5-7 VERY easily. my 2cents. |
Sounds a bit high. Offer him $6500 and see what he does.

Price...
I'd do a compression check too, but it sounds pretty good.
I'd also put it on a lift and look around underneath for leaks, rear main, etc... But if it is as good looking as you say, $7k is a good price. |
$7800 seems insanely high to me. IMHO I'd only be willing to give roughly 5K for it.
You can find a nice 5.0 for about 3-5K here. -Josh, aka the tireburner |
That seems too high to me, too. Also, since it is a '93, and as pointed out previously the pistons are not forged, the pistons that were used reduce the hp from a 87-92's 225 to '93-95's 205, I believe. Not sure on this, but I think it is true. To me, I would rather find a car that was one year older with an extra 20 hp and forged pistons with less miles. I bought my 90 lx hatch 2 years ago with 84k for $3900 and have not had any problems yet, so there are good deals out there if you take your time.

Does look nice, but in Ohio area you would own that car for $5500 and then see one in the paper for $4500 and feel like you been screwed.

Where I am at, the car would go for about $5500 if you hold your mouth right. I am in Kentucky.
