cam sprocket spacer?

Besides being sent the wrong head gaskets I recieved a timing set where the cam gear has no spacer on the back. When and on what kind of engine did ford use this? I ordered the parts for my 89GT. I hate to go to the local Ford dealer/jerks, they wanted $15.00 for a set of head dowels.

My 87 GT didn't have any spacers behind the cam sprocket.

The spacer is cast on the back of the cam sprocket now. At one time ford must of used a thrust washer that sat in the cam retainer.
