any ideals
I have a 91 mustang with a 351W, winsor heads, edelbrock 700 carb, shorty headers, 3core radiator, stock water pump and flex fan. the problem that i am having is that the engine bay is extremely hot to the point that everything under the hood heats up. i in search of some ideals that might help me cool the bay area down. let me knowif there is there something i need to change, check or what any help will be greatly appreciated. Header wrap, then seal it with some Silicoln exhuast coating made by DEI. That will drastically reduce the underhood temperature.

will try
Thank you I will give that a try keeping my fingure crossed.

1) Make sure that little black lip at the bottom of the front pump cover is still on there.
2) Get a cowl hood -Josh, aka the tireburner |
You could pull the 2 plastic side skirts off the enginebay (one behind the charcoal cannister, the other symetric drivers side). I dont think they particularly serve a purpose and it will allow air to pass sideways out of the enginebay. I second the header coating or even header wrap though I think the fiberglass crap makes it impossible to work around your headers afterward. You might discolor your paint but if you remove that underhood pad, a lot of heat will go up into the hood metal and out into the atmosphere. I removed mine years ago and not a bit of discoloration.

Those side pieces help to pull air through the radiator

What little black lip are you guys talking about? |
It attaches to the underneath side of the front bumper. Some people refer to it as the "curb scraper". It hangs below the bumper probably 3 inches or so. It is an air dam of sorts that apparently helps to cool the car. I will see if I can get a picture of mine and post it.

Put a Lincooln Mark VIII fan in the car and hook the high speed winding up to this control
