If you are looking to have a pickup and not the pump, drop the tank, pull the pump assembly, unscrew the actual body of the pump, break off the side supports and then insert a piece of rubber fuel hose onto the remaining tubing. Make sure the hose is longer than necessary to touch the bottom of the tank so that the hose turns sideways after it touches bottom but not so long that it can curl back up. I've had a running example of this for 3 years now and no problems. Sure beats replacing the tank!
Have fun!
