351w build/swap Q

lookin to build a 351w - anybody know a pair of ford heads that i can get for relatively cheap that i can bolt onto a 351w to make decent power? im trying to stray away from the $1300 pair of heads because i really dont want to spend that much cash. more than likely going to spray the motor as well so any ideas on cam/pistons/intake/head combinations? right now im running a 5.0L efi in my 68 and im wanting to upgrade to a 351 and still retain my fuel injection. the tranny is a b&M AOD with 2400 stall and i have 3.70:1 gears int he back if that would help describe my situation even more. any help would be appreciated, thanks tony

I am using a set of ported Windsor Sr heads form world castings. They cost me $600 and outflow almost every non-race aluminum head out there.

I have a set of bare 1969 351w heads for sale, they should flow pretty decent with some mild port work. Also look for a set of E7 castings, they flow real well for the money too. Or, head over to the junkyard, find an exploder and get yourself a set of GT-40's.

wait arent the E7's the ones that are on the HO motors? if so then i already have a set

There ya go. Look at the casting number, it literally starts "E7" which stands for 1987 the design year. They were used on lots of motors, well into the 90's even.

As far as cams go, I suggest the 274*XE cam from Comp Cams.
It has TONS...and I mean TONS of bottom end torque.
I'm running that in my 351w 82GT
I haven't gone to the track with it yet but I'm willing to bet that it's a 12 second setup.
