Valve chatter or spark knock?

I have real bad (what I think is ) spark knock in upper RPMS and ESPECIALLY when air conditioning is on. Any advice? Ive heard its due to carbon build-up dealing with the EGR - will replacing the EGR help?

My engine is very strong and solid but high mileage. I probably need new plugs though and a tune up anyway.

yeah im getting the same thing from my 95 gt vert, but it was bought by me from a retired guy, all he did was polish the car , i have started modding it, same problem, not all the time though, guess, i'll try the old cheater trick, pour a little bit of tranny fluid in the engine. i'll let you know what happen's. :D :D :D btw i did a tune up it did decrease it alot.

What is this transmission fluid trick I'm hearing about? I'm curious now. I just drained my PS rack and forgot that I had no PS fluid and I heard ATF would work. DOES IT EVER! That ps is like a new system! I'm curious what ATF would do in the engine. I mistakenly bought 5 quarts of type F which doesnt go in my AOD so I need to give it a purpose.

It's supposed to clean all the grunge out of the engine and free up sticky lifters etc...it has a fairly high detergent content so it cleans the engine up from the inside. IMO, if you use a good oil and do regular oil changes you will not need to use the ATF. The new oils have enough additives in them, (unless you run them too long) , they do a pretty good job of keeping things clean.
