How much power from porting??
 

I would like to tear down my engine this winter and get my heads/intake ported etc. I was just wondering if head work on my #6037 performers ad RPM intake will be enough to get me into the 12's, my current best is 13.5 at 101mph with a 1.9 60ft. I have the RPM intake, e-cam etc. but I would love 12's on motor alone and even more when I juice it. Is this possible????

Properly ported, you will see a significant gain. I agree, with your combo properly tuned and chassis set up with a good driver, you should be in the 12s now. Ever done a dyno?

I have edelbrock 6037 performer heads, Typhoon (Edelbrock RPM intake), E-cam, 1 5/8 shorties, 70mm t-body, stock mass air is ported out, stock injectors and fuel pump, 3.55 gears, stock suspension, 26" ET Drags for the track (1.9 60ft's) and a best of 13.5 at 101mph (2300ft at Medicine Hat Canada). I've only ran 3-passes down the strip but there was a stockish LS-1 car running lower 14's w/o slicks.

If I factor a 13.3 into the altitude correction table at NHRA.com (maybe with skinny's on the front and suspension work and dyno tuning??) it would give me a 12.9 at sea level.
My car is a fully loaded 1991 GT with T-5 and the A/C system removed.

Put your car on the subway diet and lose a few pounds. Spend your money on suspension goodies and you will be in the low 12's. With a good tune, 11's aren't out of the question. With some good adjustable upper control arms, lower control arms, drag springs, 90/10 struts, and 50/50 shocks. You will love it!!! BTW, do you have subframes already?

I do have subframe's already and was strongly considering lakewood lower control arms, but I don't know how much it will improve my 60" times because 1.9 is pretty good????Or is it?????

You should ditch the stock/ported mass-air meter for a good aftermarket brand. Get a 73-80mm MAM. You're choking your incoming air...considering the mods done to your motor. With ET Drags you should be getting 1.6 or 1.7 60ft. times. You need to do a good burn out and heat those things up. And launch at somewhere around 5,000-6,000rpms. Oh wait...is this a stick, or an auto? If it's an auto...than that is why you are not yet in the 12s.

It's a T-5 car, and I was launching around 5000 RPM. Will the bigger Mass air meter really help that much though???? My friend put a bigger one on and had poor idle, driveability, etc. thats why I stayed with stock and ported it. I also run a x-pipe with 40 series flow's(awesome!!!), my other question is my fuel system, do I need bigger than stock injectors and fuel pump for a naturally aspirated combo like mine??
